The original Tour concept was created by Dr. Ron Hill in the early 80's as a Double Marathon challenge as everyone had caught marathon fever back in 1981 with the launch of the London Marathon. The Tour was a different kind of running experience and as far removed from the mass participation offered by London and many other marathons at the time.
In 2025 we introduced the Club Team Challenge: an extra competition for clubs. From teams of six (which must comprise male and female athletes) we calculate the best combined time to win. The inaugural winners were Marsh Lane Harriers. Will they retain the trophy in 2027? It's up to you. Find out more about the Club Team Challenge
We look after you! Bottled water is available throughout the course of each race. And at the finish you'll find post race snacks.
